One of Parramatta’s heritage buildings to be saved!
In a press release issued today, The NSW Government announced a win for visitors and residents of Parramatta, Sydney.
The NSW Gov have announced they will retain the original heritage portion of St George’s Terrace in Parramatta.
Plans have stated the aim for St George’s Terrace will be to retain and refurbish the original portion of the building including the brick façade.
In a disconnected attempt to have their cake and eat it too, the gov body released plans to move the historic Willow Grove building, brick-by-brick to a new location, a ludicrous move that has been met with heavy backlash.
Minister for the Arts Don Harwin confirmed the decision to relocate the much-admired 19th-century Italianate villa following feedback received by the community during the planning process.
Willow Grove house, which currently resides on the site for the future museum, is proposed to be moved to a new site in North Parramatta.
Mr Harwin said the decisions were the best outcomes for the Western Sydney community, proving just how out of touch he is.
