Vote or Die

Vote or Die - Deal with the Devil! Mural by street artist Crisp was painted last Wednesday to highlight the importance of voting. Especially considering the turmoil and division unfolding in the US and the climate impacts we have seen here in Australia through bushfires and drought!

Unfortunately, it has been deemed “too political” by someone in the community and was defaced overnight, robbing locals of the opportunity to see it.
“The idea that public art can only be aesthetically pleasing and non offensive to everyone waters down creativity and enables corporations, the powerful and rich to gag free speech!” Stated Crisp the street artist that created and funded the mural off his own back.
Ironically most locals in the community love the art piece and can’t understand why the owner would want to paint over such an important message at this pivotal time! Many passersby stopped to chat, smiled and gave the thumbs up, thanking the artist for adding something controversial and interesting to the area.
“This work might make some uncomfortable but it is addressing the crisis we are facing and art exists to help us all confront moral dilemmas,” commented Darcy Byrne, Inner West Mayor.
