Survivors one of Australia’s most serious and widespread problems – violence and assault – are being acknowledged and the issue is given voice in ‘Objectified’, a group charity show produced by aMBUSH Gallery.
Opening on Thursday, 11 October, Objectified is a large-scale exhibition that included over 100 emerging and established Australian and International artists working across a range of disciplines. Brought together for the first time, they are committed to raising funds and community awareness for one of the most pressing issues of our day: violence against women, children and all gender identities, at a time when on average one woman a week is murdered by her partner.
The hopes, desires and experiences of this broad cross-section of artists are explored via the contemporary works they’ve generously donated, as well as their written thoughts on the subject.

All artworks are for sale, with proceeds from the event donated to KYUP! Project (a revolutionary self-worth and self-protection program for women and children) and Hope+Heal (a not-for-profit organisation that provides retreats and a safe and nurturing environment for survivors of domestic violence).
Opening night will feature complimentary drinks from SPARKKE and Four Pillars Gin, live music performances from Nardean, Alphamama and Beatrice McBride, as well as a charity auction boasting a huge list of items generously donated by sponsors including the incredible ‘golden ticket’ from Oxford Art Factory, which will allow the bearer free entry to every show for 12 months.

Communicating stories that may have previously fallen between the cracks or on deaf ears, the art on display ranges from satirical to serious, with a dose of hope for the future.
While their practices differ (and include painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and mixed media), the exhibiting artists all share the same aspiration – to bring about positive change. Their artworks provide the perfect medium for viewers to respond emotionally to this critical topic, while at the same time fundraising and facilitating conversation and action.
