Speedway fans have received some great news recently with final planning approval received for the new Sydney International Speedway. This means that full construction begins today, with the venue set to open at the start of the 2021/22 race season.
The new world-class venue will be located along side the existing Sydney Dragway (also known as ‘WSID’ for its former name, Western Sydney International Dragway) creating Sydney’s ultimate motorsport destination!
Key benefits of the project were identified as:
• The creation of a Motorplex for the NSW motorsport racing community
• A new world class speedway to cater for local, regional, national, and international racing events to grow speedway racing in NSW
• Allowing for speedway racing to relocate before removal of the current ‘Sydney Speedway’ facility at Clyde (Parramatta City Raceway) is resumed for Sydney Metro West construction (if approved)
